Dear Book Lovers,
Book Lovers members are asked to submit any recommended titles for the 2020-21 year to me by March 7th. The Book Selection Committee will be meeting on March 13. The committee needs time to compile the list and review it before the meeting.
The criteria used by the committee to consider a book for our group appears below. We already have some wonderful books that have been suggested, but do add yours to the mix if it meets the criteria!

Book Lovers Book Selection Committee
Our books are selected annually by a committee of five members. The Chairperson calls for volunteers and the Book Lovers Book Selection Committee is formed in February. By the April meeting, the reading list for the next year is distributed. A sign-up sheet for hostesses and discussion leaders is circulated by the Chairperson. Usually, the books are literary fiction with a couple of nonfiction works and a classic thrown into the mix. Members will be asked for title suggestions of books they have read and can recommend.
Criteria for Book Lovers Book Selection Committee

Assure availability in Paperback

Select books under 500 pages

Ensure book has interesting themes, characters, plot points, etc to discuss

Research reputable sourced reviews of proposed book such as the New
York Times that indicate literary value and evidence excellent writing

Seek a variety of literary styles and genres

Select one or two nonfiction titles as well as literary fiction titles

Select one classic
-
Select twelve titles for the next year of reading from June through May
