Good morning, Friends!
- Happy Labor Day! Back in 1882 workers formed unions and held massive rallies, such as the first unofficial Labor Day parade in NYC on September 5, 1882. We have been celebrating this day on the first Monday of September every year since 1894 when then President Grover Cleveland signed a law after violent railway strikes drew national attention to workers' needs. This day is to honor the contributions and achievements of American workers and the labor movement!
- Brews & Bites: September location from Sue Howard/Interest Chair - Sorry for the delay at securing a location for September 21 at 5:30 p.m. We are going back to one of our favorites, Brewers, 4001 Yancey in South End. There is free parking a short walk away and a drop off zone as well. They have great food and all kinds of beverages! Hope you will join us!
- Samba - Meets on the second Tuesday of each month - Please note that the venue for this interest group has been changed to Chili's Grill & Bar, 8302 Pineville-Matthews Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. The previous venue closed their doors.
- Scrabble - We are taking a break with this interest group. Interest Chair Patricia Gotsch may have periodic Pop-up games when members indicate interest in playing this once again. Thank you, Patricia!
- Welcome Coffee - We had a great turn out last Thursday with over 15 prospective members attending. More than 50% of those women attending have joined NFC since the meeting! Congratulations to VP of Membership, Kris Pacilio, attending Interest Chairs and our coffee committee Carol Yeager/Judy DiLiddo for an outstanding Welcome Coffee meeting!
