Dear New Friends,

May is right around the corner. So much for the April showers to bring May flowers. We sure could use some rain. However, my peonies, day lilies, and hydrangeas are well on their way to blooming anyway.

When I think of May, it reminds me of Mother's Day, graduations, the beginning of wedding season, and May 1st. On May Day, girls dance around a maypole with colored streamers. It made me think of our New Friends logo. It is 8 images of ladies in different colors all joining hands as if dancing around. As we get ready to close our year on May 31 and begin a new year on June 1, remember our logo. It represents how we join hands and hearts to support and celebrate each other. We will be installing our 2026-2027 Elected Officers and standing chairs at the May luncheon on Thursday, May 28 at the Raintree Country Club. Please plan to attend this luncheon to welcome the new board and say thank you and bid farewell to those leaving the board this year.  Remember to register early to enjoy your year-end luncheon subsidy.  Member's cost with this subsidy is only $20.00 and no guests at this luncheon.  Capacity is 65 NFC members.

Speaking of luncheons, if you missed the April luncheon, you missed a wonderful fashion show presented by J.Jill with 8 of our lovely members as models.  J.Jill reported that the dressing rooms were full of NFC members when they returned to the store that afternoon. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. A big Thank You to Jean Rottmann and Lora Castello for organizing this event. I heard numerous compliments about the delicious meal and impeccable service. Special thanks to our models; Robin Curlin, Anne Warren, Sue Howard, Kris Pacilio, Ilene Weiner, Ally Dantino, Merry Lee Wheeler and Lori Herzhauser. We each received a 15% off coupon in addition to the 25% promotion going on in the store. I can't wait to wear my new pink jacket, white pants and the new tops that I purchased!

We are still looking for Interest Chairs for Ladies Night Out and Evening Mexican Train. Please reach out if you are interested so we can continue these two popular monthly events.

Enjoy the rest of April and get ready for the May flowers.

Thank you for being a New Friend,

Jeanne Deiger, President

What a wonderful fashion show J.Jill put on at the Ballantyne Country Club for our April luncheon.  The event was well attended, and all of our NFC models did a great job!

As we are nearing the end of our NFC calendar year, I'm happy to report we have 171 members.  Our newest member is Kimberly Kingston.  Kimberly moved here from Denver, Colorado and now resides in the South Charlotte area.  Kimberly continues to work full time but hopes to attend some of our evening events.  Please join me in welcoming her to our club.

If you know of anyone wanting to join the club, please advise them the NFC membership will be open on June 1.  Our membership registration will be closed May 1 - May 31.

Congratulations to the new 2026-2027 elected NFC board!  I am happy and proud to be joining them beginning our new year on June 1, 2026.

Happy Spring, everyone!

GETTING TO KNOW YOU...
Karen Mockler
If you could tell your younger self one thing, it would be...  Be willing to compromise; you don't have to "win."  Also, lead with kindness and humility.

How do you spend your best "lazy" day?   Binging TV shows!

If you could thank anyone, who would it be?  I constantly thank God for His blessings.

When you think of the word "home," which place comes to mind?  Wherever my family is...

Who makes you laugh the most?  My husband!

That book that you could read again and again...  I've read the entire Left Behind series twice.
