Welcome to August!

Hot, Hot, Hot, is all I can say.  We have experienced the heat of the summer and the thunderstorms to go along with it this month.  August is our hottest month in the South.  Hopefully, you have had time to unplug a little and have taken a vacation with family or friends.  I hope you have had some homemade ice cream with some good southern peaches.  Soon the kids will return to school and the traffic will be back to normal.  I cannot believe the stores have Halloween decorations out with Thanksgiving, Hanukah, and Christmas not too far behind.  This reminds me how fast time goes as we get older.  I am so thankful for New Friends of Carolina for many reasons...the friendships I have developed, the opportunities I have had the privilege to experience, the laughs and all the memories made along the way.

Enjoy the rest of your summer with friends and family!  Register for a few of our many events.  Play Bunco, attend the Ice Cream Pool Party, or have a picnic (and don't forget to send pictures of your picnic basket to Mare Walker).  Maybe try "Clay Pumpkins" with Crafty Creations in September.  Whatever you do, I am hoping that you make some wonderful "New Friends" memories.  Celebrate all the special moments.  Also, make sure to register for the luncheons, especially for your birthday month.  We cannot wait to celebrate YOU.  I'm looking forward to seeing you at our August luncheon at Red Rocks in Strawberry Hill.

Keep your ears open for the launch of a new Interest Group called "Creative Adventures."  There will be more information coming soon.

Happy Summer,

Jeanne Deiger, President
New Friends of Carolina

Please welcome our newest member, RosAnne Atkins.  RosAnne spends her summers in Pineville with her daughter and enjoys the warmer weather in Fort Myers, Florida, during the winter.  She attended the June luncheon and said she is looking forward to joining some of the game events when she gets back from her European vacation this month.

With the yearly June 1 - June 30 renewal period, we now have 147 members which also includes our newest members (Colette, welcomed in the July newsletter) and RosAnne.

A reminder that we will have our NFC Welcome Coffee for new and prospective members on Thursday, September 11 at the SouthPark Library.  More information will be in the September newsletter on August 27.  Be thinking of this if you know of anyone who may want to join us.  Please let me know and I will send out an invite when we get a little closer to the event.

Stay cool and remember to hydrate during these hot months!
