Good Day, Friends,
- We are looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday, April 30, for our fashion show followed by the voting on the proposed slate of officers for 2025-2026. Lunch will be next and then our member recognition program. It will be a fun-filled day with many activities planned through out. Social time begins at 10 a.m. and will end promptly at 10:25 a.m. so that the fashion show may begin at 10:30 a.m.
- It will be helpful if all April luncheon registrants who are NFC members know how many years you have been a member of our club. If you forgot, you can look yourself up in the online directory and scroll down to "Date Joined".
- If you are intrigued with the idea of hosting one of the ten membership luncheons in the next membership year, Lisa Byrne will be on hand at the April 30th luncheon with the necessary paperwork to sign up to adopt a month. This is a perfect opportunity for an interest group or gathering of friends to join together and let your collective creativity shine. Select a month, choose a theme, provide a program and secure a venue. Work out the menu and cost details with the vice president of luncheon programs in coordination with our treasurer.
-Why would you want to join us for a guided-tour by a Mint docent of renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz's work at the Mint Museum Uptown on Thursday, May 29, at 11:00 a.m.?
Here are a few reasons:
1. Leibovitz's Polaroid photograph of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, taken 5 hours before Lennon's murder, is considered one of Rolling Stone magazine's most famous cover photos of all time.
2. The Library of Congress declared her a Living Legend.
3. She is the first woman to have a solo exhibit at Washington's National Portrait Gallery.
4. She was responsible for the album covers of Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A." and "Tunnel of Love."
5. She photographed Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle on the occasion of the queen's 90th birthday.
