Weekly President’s Message

April 14, 2025

Good Day, Friends,

A reminder to all that although the luncheon's date has altered, other dates have not. You can expect the newsletter in your email on Tuesday, April 22, followed by the sign-up morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. as per usual on Wedneday, April 23.

Only a few spots are remaining for the April 30th luncheon at the Ballantyne Country Club. Please note there will be no registration accepted after April 16, 2025, and if you cancel after 12:00 p.m. on April 16th, you will be responsible for the price of your lunch. This will be a fun-filled day so please be there by 10 a.m. as the fashion show will begin promptly at 10:30!  After the fashion show, we will move to the dining room to begin voting on the proposed slate of officers, have lunch (no chip swapping or meal changes from your original designated choice) and a member recognition celebration. You don't want to miss this splendid event!

Pop-Up Chair Andrea Woods is thrilled to announce that NFC members will have the opportunity to tour renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz's work at the Mint Museum Uptown on Thursday, May 29, at 11:00 a.m. "Annie Leibovitz/Work" will show new and rarely seen photographs, including portraits of major figures in American culture. Leibovitz, the former "Rolling Stone" magazine's chief photographer, who was named a living legend by the Library of Congress, has photographed royalty, professional athlete, politicians, musicians and movie stars over the last 50 years. The cost of the event will be $22 payable to Andrea directly by Venmo, Zelle, check or cash. Look for this special event in the upcoming May newsletter and calendar. You may register on April 23 for this event. Question? Contact Andrea at 210-836-4264 or Andreawoods567@gmail.com

As you may be aware, the monthly luncheons for next year will be handled differently than in the past. We are looking for individual members or interest groups to step up and be in charge of hosting one of our monthly luncheons. This gives any of you an opportunity to express your creative side and fashion a luncheon that has your unique stamp. You will be selecting the venue, menu and theme or program. Lisa Byrne, as the proposed vice president of luncheons 2024-2026, will assist you with the budget for the luncheon. It is very important to have the luncheons scheduled as quickly as possible so that Lisa can present this information to the board for approval. Currently, the months of December 2025 and April 2026 have already been chosen. Our monthly luncheons are very well attended and we want to continue to provide our members with a lovely afternoon out with our NFC family.  More information will be forthcoming about how interest groups or individuals may sign up for a particular monthly luncheon. For additional information, please contact Lisa at 860-659-7159. Thank you so much for your assistance with making this coming year's monthly luncheons a big success!
